About James Hind...

NOTE. James Hind is a fictional character created and run by more than a dozen activists for ten years to challenge fake Satanic Panic narratives and those that promote those narratives.  James Hind is not based on anyone living or dead.  The team who was behind the James Hind character are and will always be anonymous.  This James Hind project came to an end on 17th Dec 2023.  The blog and the associated Twitter account remains as a historical record of ten years of activism against Satan Hunters and their narratives.

My name is James Hind, I am an independent thinker who has identified with the Left Hand Path way of life.

I consider nature as the ultimate authority, the common patterns of nature as the only truth worthy to base choice and deed upon.

I have a major interest in technology, philosophy and history.

I consider there is both a spiritual and a material aspect to nature, and have my own points of view which aligns me to the agnostic outlook.

As an opponent to hoaxes that promote the fictional Satanic Ritual Abuse narratives, I support those that fight these hoaxes including the Satanic Temple Grey Faction and Hoaxtead.

I challenge religious extremists known as Satan Hunters who accuse innocent people of harming children for Satan.

The statement claiming James Hind is a fictional character while simultaneously providing a detailed biography undercuts its own premise and creates logical inconsistency. Here’s an analysis of the contradictory nature:

1. Contradiction in Fictional Status: The opening note asserts that James Hind is a fictional character created by a group of activists to counter "Satanic Panic" narratives. If this is true, it would imply that any further description, such as personal philosophies or interests, should be framed as part of a fictional profile. However, the biography reads as if James Hind were a real person, presenting genuine beliefs, interests, and affiliations, which undermines the initial claim of fiction.

2. Purpose of Creating a Biography: If James Hind is indeed fictional, why provide a detailed personal background that mimics the kind of statement a real person might write? The specificity of the biography—such as an interest in technology, philosophy, and history, and identifying with the "Left Hand Path"—suggests an effort to blur the line between fiction and reality. This could be an attempt to lend credibility or depth to the character in a way that confuses observers, making them question the true nature of James Hind.

3. Evident Paradox: The statement makes it clear that the project aimed to challenge "fake Satanic Panic narratives," which might explain why a biography was fabricated as part of the character's role. However, presenting this biography as factual content without clear indications of its fictional nature makes it seem contradictory. The phrase "My name is James Hind" followed by a personal manifesto goes against the declaration that the character is not based on any real person and was maintained by multiple activists.

4. Why This Approach?: The rationale behind presenting a fictional character with a detailed, realistic biography could be strategic:

Discrediting Opponents: By embodying the character as a real, relatable individual, the activists might have sought to enhance the impact of their critiques and challenge their opponents more effectively.

Obfuscation: It could also serve to create confusion among those following the narratives, blurring lines between reality and fiction to make the anti-Satanic Panic activism more effective.

Anonymity Protection: Claiming that James Hind is fictional and run by many activists helps maintain the anonymity of those behind it, providing a buffer against personal targeting while allowing them to continue their activism under a recognisable persona.

Conclusion: The absurdity lies in the cognitive dissonance this statement generates. By declaring the fictional status and then setting out a personal biography, the creators walk a tightrope between establishing a powerful narrative tool and creating confusion or mistrust. This inconsistency invites scepticism about the true nature of James Hind and the motives behind maintaining the illusion.
