"What Does It Mean to Be 'Dealt With'? A Look into the Language of Conflict and Resolution"

Image
The phrase "dealt with" carries a notable weight, invoking ideas that range from decisive action to formalised closure. But what does it actually mean to be "dealt with," especially in the context of escalating tensions or disputes? The term itself is loaded with both implication and ambiguity, and it’s often used to signal everything from taking legal action to simply establishing boundaries. Let’s unpack this phrase as it’s used by James Hind, writing as "Mordred" on his blog. In a recent entry, Mordred states: "PNW is now of the conclusion that these stalkers will have to be dealt with through litigation." He goes on to say, "PNW find responding to the stalkers tedious and onerous, hence their decision to eventually litigate." These statements prompt questions not only about the intended course of action but also about the attitudes behind the choice of language. Why choose "dealt with" instead of "addressed,...

About James Hind...

Image
NOTE. James Hind is a fictional character created and run by more than a dozen activists for ten years to challenge fake Satanic Panic narratives and those that promote those narratives.  James Hind is not based on anyone living or dead.  The team who was behind the James Hind character are and will always be anonymous.  This James Hind project came to an end on 17th Dec 2023.  The blog and the associated Twitter account remains as a historical record of ten years of activism against Satan Hunters and their narratives.   My name is James Hind, I am an independent thinker who has identified with the Left Hand Path way of life. I consider nature as the ultimate authority, the common patterns of nature as the only truth worthy to base choice and deed upon. I have a major interest in technology, philosophy and history. I consider there is both a spiritual and a material aspect to nature, and have my own points of view which aligns me to the agnostic outlook. A...

The Prudish Critique of James Hind: A Misguided Attack on Matt Taylor’s Satirical Humour.

Image
In the ever-evolving landscape of online discourse, it seems that no joke is too obvious or too harmless to escape the ire of self-appointed moral crusaders. Case in point: James Hind's recent prudish outburst over Matt Taylor’s satirical jest about filming a pornographic movie titled "Taylor's Harem." Hind’s critique, dripping with righteous indignation, reads more like a puritanical sermon than a reasoned response to a piece of entertainment clearly labelled as satire. The Satire That Wasn’t Meant to Be Serious. Matt Taylor, never one to shy away from pushing the boundaries of humour, recently published a satirical piece where he jokingly invited public figures like Kim Sears and Meghan Markle to star in a fictional pornographic film. The story was clearly marked as a joke, intended for entertainment purposes only. To most, the absurdity of the scenario and the outlandishness of the concept were dead giveaways that Taylor’s intent was to amuse, not offend. Yet, Jame...
